An LVN Expands Her Horizons - How You Can Help

Valeria Bermudez has always been an ambitous student. As a young adult she excelled in her studies, team sports, and was a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Upon graduation, she was awarded a scholarship to Texas A&M University, but ultimately discovered that engineering was not for her. On the recommendation of a friend, she applied to and was accepted into an LVN program where her passion and ambition was rekindled.

After three years in Pediatrics, she found a home at the Baylor College of Medicine working in the Urology Department, where among other duties she serves as the clinic coordinator for Dr. Mohit Khera. During her career at Baylor she has applied herself to become a level 3 licensed vocational nurse.

Valeria applied to the Wilson Educational Foundation for scholarship assistance in furthering her studies and obtaining her BSN, and plans on continuing her career in Urology. “Overall, I believe the Wilson Educational Foundation encompasses values that I align myself with,” said Ms. Bermudez. “I am excited to advance overall as a nurse, and in Urology, and it would be my pleasure to mentor other students who are interested in Urology.” We are thrilled to support Valeria in this goal, and as of the Spring 2023 semester, Valeria is enrolled in a BSN program at Chamberlain University. Valeria will continue to work while in the program.

Valeria will become a valuable resource within the Urology community, and we hope to see and encourage others to build a career in Urology. Dr. Wilson has issued a matching challenge to individuals and organizations within the industry to support Valeria in her studies, and help her get to the finish line faster. For every donation made to the Foundation in Valeria’s name, the Foundation will match that amount, with all funds adding to Valeria’s scholarship. Please consider donating to help Valeria and other students like herself meet their education goals.

Congratulations on your new chapter Valeria. The WIlson Educational Foundation is honored to be part of your journey.
