Student Scholarships

Who's eligible to apply?

  • High school graduates. High school graduation requirement may be waived if applying for a vocational scholarship.
  • Undocumented students with a current DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) classification.  
  • Students who are United States citizens.
  • Students who are applying to, or have applied to a college or university with the intent to continue their education, or who are applying to, or have applied to a vocational school (for example: personal trainer, medical assistant, industrial technician) with the intent to train for a specific career path.

WHat's required?

  • High school or college transcript including grades from most recent academic year.
  • Cumulative B/90+ average grade during the most recent academic year. Grade requirement may be waived if applying for a vocational scholarship.
  • At least two letters of recommendation, not to include parents or other family members.
  • Applicable SAT and/or ACT scores.
  • Names and information of schools or programs student has applied to, along with all letters of acceptance and cost estimates provided by the school.
  • Record of activities, community involvement or volunteering the applicant has participated in.
  • Written career goal statement essay of 1000 words or less, outlining the applicant’s  educational objective and plan. Real world relevance is required.
  • Tax returns of parent(s)/guardian(s) and student (if available) from the previous year.
  • Documented financial need, as evidenced in tax returns or other applicable programs.
  • Proof of application to at least one additional scholarship for the school year in question.
  • Personal contribution of $1,000 per academic year toward educational costs, by the student or family. This ensures financial responsibility and personal investment in the student’s future.

Selection process and criteria

  • Applications will be reviewed for prior academic performance and appropriate standardized (SAT or ACT) testing performance, with substantial consideration given to motivation, character and community involvement as substantiated by essay, submitted records and references. 
  • Complete application must be submitted to be considered for financial aid.
  • Compete application consists of three parts: online form, essay submitted via email, letters of recommendation provided via email.
  • Complete applications will be reviewed by the Foundation board. Applicants selected to move forward in the interview process will receive an email or phone request for phone interview.
  • Initial phone interview will be held.
  • Authors of letters of recommendation will be contacted by phone for follow up.
  • A final formal interview (in person or by phone/telecom) with one or more board member will be held with the applying student and parent(s)/guardian(s).

what are my responsibilities as an Awarded scholar?

  • Undocumented students will required to live at home for the first two years of school to avoid room and board costs.
  • Recipients are expected to participate in the recruitment and support of new scholarship applicants.
  • If requested, recipients may be asked (without compensation) to mentor new recipients throughout the academic or program year.
  • When it becomes financially possible, recipients are expected to remain active in support of the foundation and “give back” to the Foundation. This ensures the ability of the Foundation to provide opportunities for more students.
  • Scholarship awards may not exceed $20,000 per academic year. There is no limit on the number of years funding is available for qualifying scholars.

What iF i NEED ASSISTANCE BEYOND THE FIRST YEAR?

  • Recipients requiring support beyond the initial academic period must apply and interview annually.
  • School transcripts from the most recent academic or vocational training period must be provided.
  • Maintenance of a B/90+ cumulative average grade. If the school does not award grades or point scoring, proof of passing (in pass/fail circumstances) will be accepted.
  • Proof of employment or volunteer work during academic breaks lasting longer than six weeks (for example summer).
  • Documentation of student or family financial contribution for prior academic year.
 

APPLICATION PART ONE 

Before beginning, please review the application and have required information on hand. The form below should be completed in one session.

  • Contact information for applicant and at least one parent or guardian
  • Most recent high school transcripts
  • SAT and/or ACT scores if available
  • Post-high school transcripts as available
  • Schools or programs applied to
  • Names and phone numbers for at least two persons submitting letters of recommendation
  • Paid, volunteer or extra-curricular work
  • Summary of applicant's financial situation and basis of need
  • Alternate scholarships applied for 
  • Summary of applicant's personal/family educational investment intentions 

 

APPLICATION PART TWO

Please provide a written career goal statement essay of 1000 words or less. essay should outline the applicant's educational objective, steps to be taken, and future goals. Objectives and goals should be as realistic as possible, outlining clear and reasonable milestones. this is also the applicant's primary opportunity to communicate strengths, personality and desire. please submit completed essays (PDF or WORD) by clicking the EMAIL button AND ATTACHING DOCUMENT.
